U.S. citizens need a valid
passport to visit Jordan. Visas may be obtained in advance from Jordanian
Consulates and Embassies.

There are no vaccination requirements
for tourists entering Jordan. It is generally advisable to drink bottled
water without ice.

Arabic is the official language of Jordan.
English is used in commerce and spoken by many Jordanians.

| Time Difference:

Jordan is usually 10 hours ahead
of California and 7 hours ahead of New York. Jordan and Israel are in the
same time zone.

| Electrical Appliances:

The electric current in
Jordan is the same as in Israel - 220 volts AC, 50 Hertz. Outlets are for
rounded, two prong plugs. Small appliances may require transformers or
adapters.

| Currency:
|
The Jordanian dinar is divided into 1,000
fils. A dinar is about $1.40 or one hundred dollars is about 71 dinar.
In Jordan we had trouble using ATMs. Traveler's cheques and credit cards
are fine.

| Holidays:
|
Friday is the official weekly day of
rest, although many Christian shopkeepers close on Sunday, instead. Several
Islamic religious holidays are observed, but their dates vary every year
in accordance with the Islamic calendar.
